The automotive industry is undergoing a profound transformation with the advent of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). These vehicles rely heavily on software to control and optimize their functionality, driving experiences, and safety features. Agile concepts are probably THE concept to develop customer centric results fast and reliably. When it comes to adaptability, serviceability, and modularity, there often is potential for improvement. I will analyze and borrow a few concepts from system theory to reduce complexity and the associated challenges. Complexity may be fun to control and manage, but in the end, complexity slows innovation down. On the way to reduce complexity, I will re-evaluate if agile is really THE only concept to employ.
Mr. Paggel has more than 16 year of experience in agile work at Continental. Currently, he is working as Senior Transformation Lead with high experience in agile- and waterfall models.
Most of the time, it is my job to be ahead of things. Unfortunately, I am living in the Land of the Red Queen. It takes all the running I can do to stay in the same place. Seriously, working on and with systems and their interactions is at the same time challenging and rewarding. In addition, I am never done.
I started my working life as experimental physicist, looking for patterns in images and other data, either in real space or in electronic properties of things. I have never stopped searching for patterns and structures, the object under investigation has simply changed over time. Now it is patterns in teams, projects, organizations. For some I am too abstract. You judge for yourself.
