Rinat Asmus represents BMW as an active member of the AUTOSAR Steering Committee and has over 12 years of experience with AUTOSAR. He holds a Master's degree in Robotics and Automation Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg-Schweinfurt and joined BMW in 2009.

Since then, Rinat Asmus has been involved in software architecture, engineering and AUTOSAR application in various BMW ECU projects.

Furthermore, Rinat Asmus is passionate about the further development of AUTOSAR as a standard as well as an organisation and will continue to support AUTOSAR with all his commitment as AUTOSAR Chairperson in 2022.

AUTOSAR provides a comprehensive SW framework for future highly automated vehicles. The consideration of functional safety requirements was a clear focus in the AUTOSAR standardization from its beginning. AUTOSAR considers the requirements specified in ISO 262262, ISO 21448 and the basic safety considerations as described in the white paper “safety first for automated driving”. With its collaboration strategy with 3rd parties and its opening strategy AUTOSAR has gained speed and power to integrate solutions coming from other standardization efforts or from open-source activities. With the close partnership with other standardization organization such as ASAM, MISRA, KHRONOS and INCOSE AUTOSAR strengthen its position to meet the high dependability requirements of future vehicles. The common vehicle interface initiative (CVII) based on VSS in collaboration with COVESA offers opportunities to rapidly realize the interfaces for future connected vehicles
